When we started ‘Technology Do Mine’, we had an idea, ‘rhyming verse on the banal things we do online’, nothing more.
While writing text comes quite easily to Aazar (he’s a published poet, you can see his work here) and me, it’s all the other things: animating the text, getting it to up show up in the projection, collecting feedback and making changes, that was challenging.
Sowmya (a budding filmmaker, her profile is here) and Rashmi (a designer with a specialization in textile) helped with a lot of input on what the text should look like, where and how it should appear. But the biggest challenge was learning, working and executing these animations on Adobe After Effects, a software that none of us had worked on before. Last sunday, the three of us, sat down and figured out layers, keyframes, opacities and movement. It was more fun than we anticipated.
‘Technology Do Mine’ was an experiment, and I feel that it was successful in proving that something can be thought of and executed, with minimal resources and on tight timelines. We’d like to keep working on it, improving the content and delivery, tweaking it for something different. A variant might be live streamed online, but more information on that as it develops.
In the mean time, I feel that we’re ready for more projection work.
Here are a few pictures from ‘Technology Do Mine‘. All of us would love to know what you think of it.
