As Delhi’s top design agency, we are always on the lookout to try something new. Evolving our techniques and technology to create state-of-the-art visuals and videos. This time, we created an animation.
The animation is lead by our very own Hipster, a Delhi boy who we’re sure a lot of you would relate to. He gets his coffee only from Starbucks, hates crowded spaces and loves Instagramming everything.
First Attempt:: The first attempt at the animation was a total fail. The software was unstable, and the voiceover artist left mid-recording too! This time around, we’ve planned it better.
Second Attempt: This time around we were better equipped.
We designed the Hipster’s character along with the festive backgrounds in Illustrator.
Recording: While recording, we used the Adobe Character Animator, a high-end motion capture software, that allowed us to record facial features and movements. The live inputs that we used were:
- a webcam for face-tracking
- microphone for live lip-sync
- keyboard for triggering layers to hide/show
- mouse for warping specific handles.
Post Production: Proper naming of the layers, adding the soundtrack (jazz, of course!), a few sweat droplets here and there. A final round of edits on the sound bits, and our animation was complete.
Result: With the Character Animator we were no longer required to include hand-drawn movements or put keyframes ourselves to make an animation. It imported our layered Photoshop & Illustrator documents into puppets. Our second try at the animation, we’ve added more facial, hand, and body movements to the character.
On BlueAnt’s Facebook page we had more than 8,000 views on the video, 149% increase in number of Page Views, 3,251% increase in Reach, and 119% increase in Engagement on posts. Over 70% of social traffic towards BlueAnt’s website was driven from the Facebook page.
